Edie Sedgwick was the it girl of the 1960s. I originally wanted to watch this film because I knew Edie was considered to be one of Andy Warhol's “superstars’. I hardly know of Edie but I quickly fell in love with her just as Warhol had. I absolutely adore this film because to me it portrays exactly what I imagine to be the ‘reality of a muse’. We watch Edie and Andy form this great friendship, she's free flowing - a mess in the head but fabulous all at once. She's this amazing girl that Warhol becomes obsessed with, truly the photographs of her are amazing but quickly their friendship took a turn. They start to lose track of the connection they had due to certain circumstances which leads to a fallout. This affected Edie more than it had Warhol and took a toll for the rest of her life. This is what I mean by the ‘reality of a muse’, when that attention suddenly diverts to a different muse or a different subject, what is the other supposed to do after being so consumed in fairly unattainable love? This goes on to be a different matter for another report but I truly do love this film. Edie Sedgwick remains an it girl and I am confident she will always be a muse to every generation that follows.
